Farm Town Facebook Jokes
We all know on Facebook's Farm Town online game that it can be difficult to find work in the marketplace at times. Here is a collection of funny jokes people have used to get hired!
* I work topless. (For some reason, this guy didn't get too many takers)
* Hire me, I won't mess around with your sheep.
* Need coin to see the Blue Oyster Cult next week.
---
Went into the MP one day and every female in there was a blonde. I said wow, look at all the blondes in here. A guy responded, yeah, its like Baywatch in overalls. He got the job and is now my favorite buddy.
---
I see a ton of "love to plow" and "Want to harvest your fields!"
I give these a "That's what she said!" because I apparently am a 12-year-old boy.
---
"I need job to keep up my alcoholism"
"I need job cos my mom asked me to get one"
"Crappy worker looking for crappy boss"
First MBA about Harvesting and Plowing here
---
"I'd love to work at your place because of your nice smile."
I quit after a guy hired me
---
I'm a cropstitue and I want to get in your plants!
Addicted farmer needs fix...oops...I mean job!
---
My Sister-In-Law left me a message this morning. I would have hired her anyway, but she told me:
"I need money for a house. I am tired of sleeping with my cows and using hay bales as pillows"
---
Grandma needs new teeth, please hire me.
"Would love to get my hands on your melons"...
"Cheapest hoe in town!"
"Lazy farmer for hire. I will just sit under your trees and watch others work."
Will work for green card.
Hire me, I'm a Mexican
"need stimulus package - Obama took my job!"
If you have any good ones yourself, go ahead and post a comment!

- Next, go to the Farm Town store and purchase a dirt path corner, in this shape:
.
- Place the dirt path like so, above your church to make the vertical part of the cross. I used six to make mine by the time it was all said and done to make this one.
- Then buy the horizontal dirt path that from the store, and make the cross like so.

Farm Town Waterfalls A Farm Design Optical Illusion
Making Waterfalls in Farm Town is a fun design, and it definitely is not one that is easily accessible in the game. Basically, it is a design optical illusion that allows you to layer pieces of the river tile in such a way that it looks as if there is a waterfall. Here is an image of a waterfall in action on someone's farm.

So how do we go about layering these pieces, and which ones do we use in order to make the waterfall? Follow these steps below.

How to create a Waterfall in Farm Town
- Take a river corner, preferably one shaped like so: /\
- Place four dirt paths on top of it in order to cover it
- Place another river corner on top of the dirt paths, slightly off center from the first river corner so you get the waterfall look
- Remove the dirt from the river corner
- Repeat as many times depending on how tall you would like your waterfall

Farm Town Oceans & Lakes A Farm Design Water Optical Illusion
Have you ever visited a Farm Town farm and seen an ocean or lakes on their farm and wondered how to do it? Well you are in luck, because we are exposing the secret of how to make them. First of all, let me say that this is definitely not something that the game developers put in the game. For all intensive purposes, this is a Farm Town glitch that has a really pleasing effect to the eyes. The way we will show you gives the illusion of rippling water. Follow the steps below to learn how to make Farm Town Lakes and Oceans.
How to Make Farm Town Lakes and Oceans:
Congratulations, you have now created your very own Farm Town Lake, or if you wish to make it bigger, an ocean! Impress all of your friends with your creativity and Farm Town design skills when you show off your new body of water.
Finally, check out this video if you have any questions about how it all goes together in the end.
Or you can check out the following video, which details a little more about how to use main river pieces than just corners. This can be a very effective way to cover large areas with water, but in my opinion it is not quite as nice looking.
How to Make Farm Town Lakes and Oceans:
- Start by placing a river corner on your property in the location of your ocean or lake
- Place dirt paths on top of the river corner, like so:
- Continue placing dirt paths on top of the corner until you have four across it. This will prepare your lake for the next piece
- Now that your dirt is in place, you will be creating your Farm Town ocean by setting another river corner on top of the dirt paths like so
- Your next step will be to move the dirt paths back on top of your newly placed water so that you can repeat the process
- Last of all, your final result will look something like this

Farm Town Hills - A Farm Design Optical Illusion
Farm Town Hills - A Farm Design Optical Illusion
When you start out in Farm Town you get a nice, square, flat farm to work with that has no diversity in the geography. Not very realistic, but ideal. However, if you want to add some hills to your farm, there are some clever users that have found a way to do so. Or at least make it appear as if this is so. It is an optical illusion created by the way in which items are placed next to each other that makes it look like you have a hill. How To Make Hills in Farm Town Method 1: Crates and Flowers

First place a box down, then a flower in front of it to help cover the box. This will represent the bottom of the hill that is at a lower level. Next, to create the illusion of the top of the hill, you will need to place another flower one space away from the box, and one space up. This is a difficult process to describe but if you view the above image, you should see how this all comes together. After setting up the first box and set of flowers you will probably not "see" it just yet, but after adding several it will become more apparent. Finish this easily by closing off to a border of your farm.
How To Make Hills in Farm Town Method 2: Hedges
Making hills with hedges looks pretty nice, and you don't have to plant flowers in front of them like you do boxes, which we did in order to hide that it is a box. The hedge looks like a very good organic structure that could be the side of a hill. Again, we take the same concept as before and apply it to these hedges.

As you can see, I'm standing "on top" of the hill in this picture. This one shows the end result a little better than the previous picture because it is closed off on the ends. The most important part is to not place anything behind the shrub so that it gives away that it is not elevated. Also, placing the flowers on top make it quite convincing.
Check out a farm from the farms gallery for an example of what your final result could look like.
Animals in Farm Town
Animals are cute, cuddly, and fun to see running around your farm. They make great decoration and even perhaps company when you are spending time at your farm regularly plowing and planting crops. You can even send them to your friends as gifts for free so that they have a few animals around their farm to remind them of you.
These are all great aspects of animals in Farmtown. Unfortunately, animals don't really have any practical use in Farm Town currently. What do I mean by this?
These are all great aspects of animals in Farmtown. Unfortunately, animals don't really have any practical use in Farm Town currently. What do I mean by this?
- Animals cannot breed or reproduce
- Animals do not get fatter as they eat, nor can you slaughter them
- Selling an animal will only gross a small amount of coins, resulting in a loss if you paid for it
- Animals can slow down your computer and gameplay if you have many of them and/or a slow computer
Gifts - Levels to Unlock, Charts, and more!
Gifts in Farm Town are a great feature to the online game. First of all, gifts are absolutely free to send to all of your friends and there is a relatively high limit on how many friends you can send these out to, for me at this time it is 24. So lets talk about Farm Town gifts then.
What gifts are best in Farm Town?
Right now there are three types of gifts in Farm Town; there are animals, flowers, and trees. Which one all depends on your friends style but I will suggest that trees are the best, flowers are the second best, and to avoid sending animals. Why is this?
Trees are a great gift to send because they not only look nice but they can be harvested regularly for coins. They are also great gifts in Farm Town because most of the trees cannot be purchased in the store - the only way to obtain them is through gifts.
Flowers are the next best thing to send, assuming that your friend would like to plant them on his or her farm. The positive thing about flowers is that if your neighbor plants them, you can earn coin from visiting their farm and watering the flowers.
Animals on the other hand, while they look cute, really don't have a purpose in the game. The main thing I have experienced from seeing them around farms is that they dramatically slow down the machines of the people visiting. This usually happens when there are lots of animals, however on a slower computer it might not take as many. If you want to be a good friend, don't send an animal that could take away from the game play of your friend.
What levels are gifts unlocked on Farm Town?
Check out the following chart to see what level gifts in Farm Town are available to send to friends.

Where can I find friends that are eager to send gifts to each other?
We encourage you to join our Farm Town Facebook group to exchange neighbor requests. Not only are these great people to play with, whom often send gifts daily as you should, but they will help you achieve the 10 neighbors to unlock the hire to plow feature.

Farm Town Friends & Neighbors
Farm Town friends are always good to have, they can come help out at your farm and you can visit theirs. Not only do they come in handy when achieving trophies, but having ten can unlock the special game feature of hiring people to plow your fields. This is huge and saves a lot of time if you are so inclined to hire your Farm Town friends to do so. In addition to this, hiring a neighbor to plow your fields is cheaper than hiring a stranger.
What is the best way to make Farm Town friends and neighbors? Join our Farm Town Facebook Group to find friends who will be your neighbor! Simply join the group and post a message to the message board requesting neighbors. You can alternatively respond to others requests for Farm Town friends.

Farm Town Houses
Farm Town has a great variety of houses to choose from in the store. The higher Farm Town level you are, the more you can unlock and purchase. Farm Town houses aren't functional in the sense that you can go in them, store things in them, or really do anything else with them other than take up space in the middle of your farm. Buy Experience Points - Chart of Experience per Store Item in Farmtown
While you have been playing Farm Town, you may have noticed that you gain experience points for doing various things in the game. This is partially done by planting the best crops on your farm, but can also be achieved when you buy items for your farm. As a general rule, you get more experience points by purchasing more expensive items - but this is not always the case. If you are trying to balance aesthetics of your farm with your desire to get more experience and level up, take a look at these ratios.
One possible idea you can also incorporate is purchasing items with a high ratio of experience points per dollar, and then selling them back to the store. You won't get very much money back by doing this, but it might be an option if you want to power level and just want the experience points.

Farm Town Levels Chart

Farm Town Trees - Planting Close Together
So how close can you plant your trees together in Farm Town and still be able to harvest the fruit of your labor? Obviously you need to plant your trees in a fashion so that your character is able to physically reach the tree, and you ideally would like to be able to easily click on the tree to harvest from it as well.
After creating a massive Farm Town tree grove, filled with orange trees, I came up with the following configuration to plant trees and still be able to harvest from them. Each red square represents an orange tree.

How to Turn off Trees in Farmtown
Do you have some empty space on your farm that you would like to plant some trees in, yet are afraid to do it because you don't wish to cover up other pieces of real estate? This is a common problem, and leads people to often only plant trees along the top border of their property. But with the obvious benefits of having trees in your Farmtown farm, such as not having to replow and plant every time for each harvest, it could be foolish to avoid trees altogether. You no longer have to stick to just the best Farm Town crops and can start planting trees too!
Luckily, the makers of Farmtown have designed a nice workaround that allows you to make the trees invisible when harvesting. This can be very useful when you are trying to harvest a plowed field that may be covered up by said trees. Follow along with the steps below.

- Click on the image of the wrench in the top right corner of your game screen. This is also known as the Preferences Menu.
- Once in the Preferences Menu, look for the checkbox that is titled, "Show Trees" and uncheck it.
- Continue to farm your Farmtown farm until you would like to see your trees again. In order to bring them back, just check the box again.
Trees are the Secret to Maintenance Free Riches
Planting trees in Facebook seems to be an underrated strategy. Out of all the farms I have worked at, most are dominated by crops planted over and over. While there are several benefits to planting crops such as experience points gained and fast profit turn-around, it can also be very time consuming. Crops must be plowed, then planted, then harvested. This results in a very repetitive process which can get old quick. Why put yourself through that when you could be having fun instead?
Orange trees cost roughly $450 per tree and yield a harvest of about $50. What this means is that it will take about 9 harvests to break even. This seems like a really long time and can obviously be a large deterrant to planting. However, after the break even point has been reached then every harvest after this is pure profit. In Farmtown, trees have unlimited harvests. In contrast, planting crops requires a repeat investment. Another great advantage is the crops on trees don't spoil like planted crops do, so you can forget about your farm for a long time without maintaining it if your life gets busy.
But what about experience points?
The beauty of this is that once you start raking in the money from your harvests, you can basically buy experience points while you make your farm look nice. If you haven't noticed, as you purchase items in the stores in Farmtown, you also gain experience points. As you spend more, you generally get more experience points for building the structure. Check out my chart showing how to many you get when you buy experience points for each item in the store.
If you wish, you may also continue to maintain your fields until you have enough orange trees to prosper. Also, if you desire to plant trees other than orange trees, you will have to have a good friend to send them to you as gifts since they cannot be purchased in the stores. I would recommend against this unless you have several friends you can coordinate, because of the limit of sending one gift per day.

Hire to Plow in Farm Town
Tired of spending hours plowing your farm? It seems inevitable that in order to plant and harvest crops, you have to plow your fields. However, luckily Farm Town has a great feature out there that allows you to hire others to plow your fields for you. But what all goes along with this feature, and how do we access it?
First of all, in order to be able to use the Hire to Plow feature you have to unlock it. In order to do this, you must have 10 neighbors in the game. Once you do this, the feature will automatically unlock and you can use it. We have an article available if you want some tips on how to get Farm Town friends.
Also, while the Hire to Plow feature may seem like it is going to be expensive, you will be happily surprised to hear that it actually is cheaper to do this than it is to do it yourself! The cost to plow is normally 20 coins; if you hire a stranger from the marketplace it is 15 coins, and if you hire your neighbor it is only 10 coins. See the screen shot below.
As you can see, the farmers can plow previously harvested fields. After using this myself, I can verify that if you hire someone, they will not destroy your farm plowing wherever they like.
Tip: Make sure to follow your new hires back to the farm to make sure you receive your experience. Users have reported occasional problems when they have not.

Best Crops to Use in Facebook's Farmtown
The question comes up often, what strategy do I employ to move up the fastest in Farm Town? The answer is undeniable! If you are willing to stick it out and put the time in, this crop can not only be profitable to you in terms of experience points but also terms of harvest at the market. Any newbie to the game of Farm Town needs to know which one to stick to and work that one crop.
What is the crop to plant in Farm Town? The best crop for a starting user is by far raspberries, and here is why: (1) Raspberries only have a two hour turnover, this allows you to plant and harvest them several times a day. (2) Each time you plow and plant, you will gain experience from this. By doing this multiple times per day, you maximize the experience gained. (3) Raspberries have the highest rate of coins per hour. If you look at the Farm Town Chart below, you will see this to be true.
The only downside to this is that you have to put in work, and that means time spent. But, if you are willing to put in the time and the effort, raspberries are the best bet for newbies starting out in Facebook's Farmtown.

How to Plant More Crops, Closer Together in Farmtown
Have you visited your neighbors farms and noticed that their crops seem to be planted a lot closer together than yours? It is no coincidence, they are and your neighbors are able to plant more harvests in their farm than yours as a result.
For one reason or another, Farmtown defaults to planting your crops with a space between each plowed plot. This breeds inefficiency in your farming operation and, in my opinion, looks bad. However, if you plant your crops closer together you can not only have larger harvests without buying more land, but you can have more room for houses and other farm decorations.
As you can see from the picture on the right, the cabbage on the top is planted so close together that you cannot see spaces in between them. On the other hand, the peas planted on the bottom have the space between each one. How did I do this?
For some reason, Farmtown defaults to putting this space between crops yet allows you to remove it. I believe it should be the other way around but that is neither here nor there. In order to remove it:
